I had the boys from jobe round for a couple of nights because they asked me to record one of their new songs. Well it’s all done & dusted now and you can get the mp3 here:

this song will probably be part of an EP that will be released before long. The other 3 tracks on the EP were recorded by a proper technician and I have to say that it is sounding VERY spiffing indeed.

OK so I’ve done another version of Elliott Smith’s “Twilight” song. This time I “went for it” a bit more with the vocals. Not sure I’ve got all the balance sorted out yet but here it is, let me know what you think.

I was feeling inspired to record something tonight and seeing as I’d just watched an amazing Elliot Smith video of him playing at the ABC something-or-other awards I decided to choose an Elliot song. I went for “Twightlight” because it’s my current favourite – it’s such a tragic & emotional song. Can’t beat it.

There’s a couple of things that I’d definately do differently with hindsight. I’d get rid of the extra “ah-ahhh”s that I invented. I’d probably re-record the piano part because it does lose time every now and again. I really like the vocals when I listen with headphones but I find it horribly embarassing when I listen to it through speakers (even with an empty house)

So I’ve spent a few days working on a song. I actually came up with the music for it some time ago but have only just got around to recording a fairly clean version of it.

It is still a work in progress, the drums in the chorus need work, I might still chop out the little extra twiddly bits at the end of the chorus. But please do let me know what you think I got right and what you think I got wrong. The lyrics were written by a friend of mine.
